Roque “Ro” Celdran dreams of a better life, far away from the hand-to-mouth existence of his migrant worker family. He moves to San Francisco to study Landscape Design but finds himself short of cash. Tony, Ro’s identical twin, comes up with a plan to help Ro make ends meet. The BDSM club Tony frequents is looking for gay men to act as submissives to the Dommes-in-training. Ro reluctantly takes the job and falls headfirst into a world he neither understands nor desires.

Lance Roberts is the new doctor at the dental practice started by Scott Gregory and Robin Kennedy. On the surface, he seems to have it all: the Mensa IQ, blond and blue-eyed good looks, and the determination to make it in his competitive field. Underneath lies a frustrated Dom in search of the perfect sub who can handle his obsessive behavior and debilitating need for control.

When Ro ends up in Lance’s dental chair, the last thing either one expects is a physical and mental connection. Ro’s attraction to “White Bread” never pans out, and Lance’s weakness for Latinos always leads to a dead end. Could this time be different? What happens between the two alphas leads to a lot of soul-searching and some surprising conclusions.

Weekend review

EvolvedIn 2068, androids are an integrated part of human life. Big Brother no longer just watches from the shadows. It’s in every household.

Lloyd Salter has OCD issues with noise and mess, and he’s uncomfortable with human interaction. When his ex claimed the only thing perfect enough to live up to his standards was an android, Lloyd dismissed it. But two years later, after much self-assessment, he thinks he may have been right.

SATinc is the largest manufacturer of androids in Australia, including the Fully Compatible Units known as an A-Class 10. Their latest design is the Synthetic Human Android UNit, otherwise known as SHAUN.

Shaun is compatible to Lloyd’s every need; the perfect fit on an intellectual and physical basis. But Lloyd soon realises Shaun’s not like other A-Class androids. He learns. He adapts. Sure that SATinc is aware Shaun functions outside of his programmed parameters, Lloyd must find a way to keep Shaun safe.

No one can know how special Shaun is. No one can know he’s evolved.

aa7e2-fullsizeoutput_622Before I even finished reading the blurb I was intrigued by the story premise and couldn’t wait to read this book. I’ve read a few books by N Walker that are amazing & this one didn’t disappoint.

Not quite your normal romance, but still at heart a story of love and acceptance. I loved Lloyd from the beginning in all his nerdiness and the idea of Shaun intrigued me. The idea of androids like Shaun becoming common place made me think how technology could progress to this point and it’s definitely a thought provoker. The story actually raises some interesting topics such as the ethics surrounding Shaun and his complete compatibility.

On that point, the story didn’t lack in heat but there were also some sweet and tender moments as their relationship progressed and surprisingly some funny ones too.

I liked how the story evolved along with Shaun and kept me flipping through the pages. There was a nice twist of suspense towards the end too. If you a more of a sci-fi story lover than a romance story lover you might not enjoy this as much as I did. If you’re looking for a story of love with a flavour of sci-fi then I’d recommend Evolved.
