GLO ~ Gay Lit Oz

LGBTQ Author Event; coming to Sydney, March 2021

GLO or Gay Lit Oz is the first, large scale LGBTQ+ genre book & author event to be hosted in Australia. We have a wide range of authors from all over the world coming to Sydney to meet readers, fans and to explore and discuss the stories that have touched our hearts and create a collective space for readers and authors to interact. The idea for this unique author event came from a strong desire for passionate readers and authors to interact and discuss all the beautiful stories created.

GLO Founder, Sheridan Brettle teamed up with bestselling author Nora Phoenix and brainstormed a way to indulge Austalia and New Zealand’s reader’s desire to meet all the great authors from around the world in one, must-attend event, and GLO was born.

GLO will be held at City Tattersalls Club, 198 Pitt St, Sydney NSW 2000
https://citytatts.com.au

All proceeds from this event will be supporting The National LGBTI Health Alliance and some of their very important partners.

We are happily still seeking sponsors and supporters, so if you are interested in becoming involved please email Sheridan (gaylitoz@gmail.com) for more information.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) for all Authors are still open (but filling up fast). Please don’t hesitate to become a part of this must-attend event and your chance to visit Austalia.

QLife provides anonymous, LGBTI peer support and referral for people in Australia wanting to talk about a range of issues including sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships.

QLife services are free and include both telephone and web chat support, delivered by trained LGBTI community members across the country. Our services are for LGBTI individuals, their friends and families, and health professionals. Beyond the telephone, QLife offers web chat for people who prefer online interactions or for whom the phone is impractical.

QLife is funded by the Australian Government and operates as a unique partnership model.

Central to our service is our commitment to maintain and strengthen the proud history of LGBTI community-based phone counseling. Although QLife is only six years old, QLife partners have been delivering phone counseling across Australia for many years. Anonymous peer counseling has, and always will be, an important contributor towards better mental health for LGBTI Australians.

The National LGBTI Health Alliance is the contract holder and works in collaboration with four state-based partner organizations who deliver the services. Each of the partner organizations has a long history of providing counseling and support within their local LGBTI communities.

MindOUT develops and delivers national suicide prevention initiatives aimed at building the capacity of the mental health and suicide prevention sectors to meet the support and wellbeing needs of LGBTI populations, thereby improving the mental health outcomes and reducing suicide and suicidal behavior amongst LGBTI people and communities.

LGBTI people have a heightened risk of mental health diagnosis, psychological distress, self-harm, suicide ideation, and suicide attempts. For an overview of statistics on mental health outcomes and suicidal behaviors of LGBTI populations, please refer to the Snapshot of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention for LGBTI People

Silver Rainbow provides national coordination and support activities promoting the well-being of LGBTI elders and the ongoing delivery of the LGBTI awareness training to the aged care sector.

Silver Rainbow was formed in 2013 to initially respond to the National LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care Strategy. Silver Rainbow works collaboratively with the government, aged care providers and related services, LGBTI older people and elders and organizations to create an LGBTI inclusive aged care sector. We do this by providing policy and program advice to the Department of Health and the aging and aged care sector and working in partnership with LGBTI organizations and individuals across Australia and internationally.

GLO is proud to be supporting such a great alliance and such important resources.
